Privacy notice
What data this site collects, why, and how to get rid of it.
This notice explains what happens to your data when you visit thelondonverdict.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
This site sets no cookies and builds no profile of you. It runs one privacy-preserving analytics script, described below. The only personal data we hold is an email address, and only if you chose to give us one.
What we collect
Almost nothing, if you just read. The pages here are static files. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views: it records which page was viewed, the country it was viewed from, and the site you arrived from. It does this without cookies, without fingerprinting your device, and without anything that could identify you or follow you to another site. We do not set cookies, we do not embed social media trackers, and we do not run advertising networks.
Your email address, if you subscribe. If you sign up to the newsletter, we store the email address you give us, and the date you gave it. We use it to send the newsletter and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone other than the email provider that delivers the messages. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address from our list.
Your message, if you email us. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence so we can reply and so we can follow up if you reported an error.
Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is served — IP address, browser type, page requested — for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these logs to identify individuals, and we do not combine them with anything else.
Affiliate links
When you follow an affiliate link, you leave this site and arrive at the retailer's own site, where their privacy policy and cookie practices apply, not ours. The retailer may set a cookie to record that you arrived from here so that any commission is attributed correctly. We never receive your name, payment details, or booking details — only, at most, an anonymous record that a booking occurred. See the affiliate disclosure for the commercial side of this.
Legal basis and your rights
Where we process personal data we rely on your consent (for the newsletter) or our legitimate interest in running and securing the site (server logs). Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to processing, and to receive a copy. Email us and we will act on it within one month, free of charge.
If you are unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is aimed at adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this notice changes materially we'll update the date below, and we'll say so in the newsletter.
